About Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme (PMSS)

The Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) was started for helping children and widows of ex-servicemen and also of CAPFs and Assam Rifles who did service for country and now their families need support for higher education. The scholarship is given only for first professional courses like engineering, MBBS, BBA, BCA, pharmacy and others which are approved by AICTE, MCI or UGC, so the studies must be serious and career-making. The money is paid from the National Defence Fund and it is being handled by the Prime Minister’s Office, so trust can be done.

Boys are given Rs. 2,000 or 2,500 and girls are given Rs. 2,250 or 3,000 every month depending on category, and this money is sent every month till the course is completed which may be one year or five. Online form must be filled on National Scholarship Portal, but it must be checked properly because only two children from one family can get it and distance courses are not allowed.

Overview of National Scholarship Portal

The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) was made by the Indian government so that students can fill forms for many scholarships from one place without going anywhere else. It is used by students of all states and helps to apply for both central and state government scholarships in one website only. The form is same for many schemes, so it is less confusing and easy. The money is sent directly to the student’s bank account by Direct Benefit Transfer, so cheating and delays are stopped. The whole process is done online and can be checked by students any time. The system was made to save time, reduce mistakes and help more students. Many are already helped and more are applying now.
